Your Perfect 2-Day Itinerary in Iceland

Iceland has a lot to offer, all-year-round. Even a short stay can give you a taste of the wonders of Iceland, but planning well is key!
Follow our recommendations and enjoy your weekend break in Iceland to the fullest.

Arrival in Reykjavík

Reykjavík, the Capital of Iceland, is the gateway to the beauty of the Arctic wilderness in the winter.

Located just 45mins from the Keflavík International Airport, Reykjavík is the perfect base for your explorations.
The picturesque city center, with its museums, award winning restaurants, cozy cafés and vibrant art scene, is the starting point for all day and multi-day tours into the rugged Icelandic countryside.

Day One

After a good night sleep at your chosen accommodation in Reykjavík, step on board of our Golden Circle and Blue Lagoon minibus tour and let us take you to Iceland‘s most celebrated attractions – all in one day.

The Iconic Golden Circle

The Golden Circle is by far the most popular day tour destination of Iceland.

Nested in the Southwestern wilderness of Iceland, the area commonly known as Golden Circle includes some of the most important and famous sites of Iceland.

Explore Þingvellir, the UNESCO World Heritage site of the first Parliament in history and site of the impressive rift between the European and North American tectonic plates.

Witness Strokkur erupt at the famous Geysir geothermal area.

Then get close and personal with the majestic Gullfoss, the powerful Golden Waterfall just steps away from Iceland‘s second glacier – Langjökull.

Blue Lagoon

The world-renowned geothermal spa needs no presentation. Considered one of the modern wonders of the world, the milky blue waters of the Blue Lagoon are a must visit.

Pamper yourself after an adventurous day in the winter nature: soak in the warm waters and take in the beauty of the surrounding volcanic landscape, while sipping on a signature drink or enjoying the rejuvenating effects of your silica mud mask.

Your day tour will end at your accommodation in Reykjavík.

Experts‘ Tip: Looking for a less well-known and unique spa experience?

Choose our Golden Circle and Sky Lagoon tour!

After a day spent exploring the wonders of the Golden Circle, let us take you back to town and to the Capital‘s favorite geothermal spa: Sky Lagoon.

Try the iconic seven step wellness ritual and relax at the picture-ready infinity pool, overviewing the ocean and the Reykjavík bay.

Evening Northern Lights Hunt

After dinner, get ready for the second part of your first day itinerary in Iceland. Join a northern lights tour and get a chance to witness the magic!

For the most immersive and authentic experience, we recommend our northern lights superjeep tour.

Small group, off-the-beaten-track ride on a 4×4 superjeep, drinks, photos, free retry, and the highest chance of success in seeing the Aurora.

Plus, free admission to Aurora Reykjavík, where we will get you ready for the northern lights experience of a lifetime. What‘s there not to love?

Alternatively, choose our northern lights minibus tour. This comfortable tour, for up to 20 passengers, includes photos, hot chocolate and a free retry.

Or join a northern lights cruise from the old harbor in downtown Reykjavík. This tour offers a different take on the northern lights experience, with the city lights in backdrop and the thrill of the ocean at night.

Experts‘ Tip:

As the northern lights are a natural phenomenon and highly weather dependent, we recommend booking your tour for the first night at your disposal.
In case of a cancellation due to weather – or an unsuccessful first try – you will be able to try again on the next night and therefore maximize your chances of witnessing an Aurora.

Day Two

Get ready to explore the South Coast of Iceland with our South Coast and Katla Ice Cave tour!

After your pick-up in a comfortable minibus, you will head out of town – direction South.
