Fantastic trip out to see the Puffins. Emily was our guide and we had beautiful weather with thousands of Puffins to see!! Emily even shared some of her own photos which were taken with a better telephoto lens than we brought ourselves. The boats are set up beautifully, with pneumatic saddle type seats and strong handholds. Like special forces SEAL team boats setup for Puffin encounters. The Captain even showed us some fast S-turns on the way back and the boat handled like a dream.... a very fun part of the trip! The outfitter provides everything you need and the trip doesn't take long at all. There were plenty of birds to see and the crew even offered binoculars to the guests.

It was a fun boat ride, fun to see Puffins, and the guide was very knowledgeable about the area sea life. On the way back our captain drove along the city shoreline for a different view of the city.

Loved the Puffin tour! The boat ride was fun! The Puffins were adorable to watch from close to the island. We circled a part of the island and watched Puffins going about their life. Learnt a few amazing facts about them.

  • Is pick-up available for this tour?
    The tour departs from the conveniently located Old Harbour in downtown Reykjavík, just a short walk from most hotels and landmarks. Pick-up is not included for the Premium Puffin Watching tour, so guests should make their way directly to the ticket office at least 30 minutes before departure.
  • Are there bathrooms on board?
    Due to the size and design of the RIB boats used for the Premium tour, there are no bathroom facilities available onboard. We recommend using the restrooms at the harbour before boarding.
  • Is it possible to purchase food/drinks during the tour?
    There are no food or drink sales during the Premium Puffin Watching tour. We suggest bringing a reusable water bottle and any small snacks you might need, though the short tour length typically doesn’t require much. Cafés and shops are available nearby at the harbour for refreshments before or after your trip.

1) Warm Clothing – Iceland’s weather can be unpredictable, so layering up is essential. 2) Waterproof Jacket & Pants – Protect yourself from sea spray and chilly winds while out on the water. 3) Sturdy Footwear – Wear shoes that are suitable for the boat and will provide good grip when moving around. 4) Camera – Capture unforgettable moments with the puffins and and stunning coastal scenery. 5) Sunglasses & Sunscreen – Even on overcast days, the sun can be strong, especially when out on the open water. 6) Hat & Gloves – For added warmth. 7) For safety reasons, participants must be at least 145 cm tall, weigh less than 140 kg and able to stand comfortably in our saddle-like seats.
