Our Afternoon and Evening Active Volcano tours from Reykjav\u00edk Iceland take you to recent eruption sites<\/strong> of\u00a0Fagradalsfjall<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Meradalir<\/strong>\u00a0in Geldingalur Valley. You will witness the vast scale of the changes these eruptions have made to the landscape.<\/p>\n The 2021 eruption lasted many months while the 2022 and 2023 eruptions petered out after several weeks. The area is still very active and fascinating, being the place for 3 eruptions within 3 years!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n During your exploration, you have the opportunity to learn about all the eruptions that have occurred on the Reykjanes Peninsula since 2021. Your guide will point out areas of interest, including the possibility of seeing the latest\u00a0Sundhn\u00fakur eruption<\/strong>, which began on December 18th 2023 and subsided 3 days later. You will also learn about previous eruptions at\u00a0Fagradalsfjall<\/strong>,\u00a0Meradalir<\/strong>, and\u00a0Litli Hrutur<\/strong>, weather and safety conditions permitting.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Please note that the flow of new lava has ceased for the time being. The area is still fascinating and well worth a visit.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n We join the hiking trail around the lava field remnants of the 2021 Fagradalsfjall eruption. The hike takes around 2 hours each way<\/strong> and is considered difficult\/challenging<\/strong>.\u00a0The hiking trail is flat for much of the way, with a few steep sections. To witness new land being created is simply magical and we hope to share this wonderful experience with you.
