AVIS DES VOYAGEURS

An amazing experience! Having the privilege of descending into a volcano is a unique opportunity not to be missed. After an easy walk of about 40 minutes over 3 km to reach the base camp, the wait is rewarded with a monumental "wow". The spectacle of colors and rock formations inside is breathtaking. Our guide was fantastic, adding an extra dimension to the experience. The price is high, as is often the case for tours in Iceland, but if your budget allows, go for it! It's a memory engraved forever.

Astonishing experience. My husband and I were in the first group of the day and the solitude in the cavern was unforgettable. The sound of our guide singing quietly, his voice softly echoing against the backdrop of dripping water. We were all in whispers. The lodge was warm and comforting, especially the lamb soup that was the best we had in all of Iceland during our two week visit. Thanks for it all!

What an amazing opportunity to go inside a volcano! I am happy I did this tour because it's not often you see inside one of nature's phenomena. Pros: We had a little less than an hour walk to the volcano, which was fine. Got my steps in so I wasn't pressed about it. Our guide stopped at various times to explain the landscape and various crevices we passed on our way to the volcano. Once there, we went down in groups of six, I believe. It took about 6-7 minutes to get to the bottom of the volcano, where we got a quick brief and was allowed to explore on our own for 20-30 minutes. Just amazing!! Although it's only rocks, it was still a great experience. Once finished, we were treated to delicious lamb or vegan soup, hot chocolate, or coffee prior to walking back to the meet-up location. Our hostess was very nice and funny! She made the experience that much better. The knowledge she had was great. I definitely recommend this for anyone visiting Iceland. It's expensive but worth it!

We stayed here in August 2025. The way to the volcano is very easy to do, our guide took short breaks to keep the group together. During these breaks, he told interesting stories about the area and its origins. During our visit it was unfortunately very foggy, as a result of which the volcano itself was unfortunately only rarely visible. Once we arrived at the volcano we were divided into three groups and given a short introduction. The elevator was very quiet and we had a high sense of security. Even in the elevator we could ask questions at any time and enjoy the great colors of the rock. Inside the volcano there is a circular path, although this is quite challenging, which is why part of the group only went halfway or stayed directly on the first level. But the view is definitely amazing from every point. Again, we were able to ask our guide questions and he helped us take great photos. Afterwards we had some delicious soup and we headed back together with our guides. Overall, we can only recommend Inside the Volcano. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It made a really family impression and the experience is absolutely unique.
