Experience life-size models of 23 different species of whales at Whales of Iceland!
This educational and interactive museum is full of underwater sounds, interactive technology and educational information for all ages. A must do when in Reykjavik!
Enjoy this unique experience and walk through the world of whales. Through soothing whale songs, ambient underwater lighting and beach-like floors, immerse in the mammals’ environment.
While you stand next to the models, see just how big these amazing cetaceans actually are. You are welcome to touch and explore each whale!
Fin Whale Cinema
The latest addition to Whales of Iceland is the Fin Whale Room. Here, learn the various threats (and their solutions) that marine mammals face today.
The documentary Whale Wisdom, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, is screened daily at 10:20, 12:30 and 14:40. Otherwise, incredible underwater footage of whales is screened at other times of the day.
A daily live-guided tour is also available for free for all ticket holders at 11:00 and 15:00.
Whales of Iceland is located just 15 minutes walking distance from the Old Harbour, in the Grandi area.
Once you have experienced all that the museum has to offer, you end your visit with a freshly baked pastry & cup of coffee in the Whale Cafe.
Finally make sure to purchase a souvenir in the gift shop on the way out! The boutique offers a variety of souvenirs from local and international artists.
